March 14: Bob Hull – Steganography

“Highly unpredictable events, even though they  may have potential for massive impacts, are not usually considered in Continuity Planning.” Preparing for solar storms is one example.

Bob is going to explain what solar storms are and how they affect us, and then describe some notable historic solar storms and what locations are most vulnerable. He will also address the government’s action plan and strategy, space weather preparedness, and some of the means to mitigate the Big One – a geomagnetic solar storm.

Instead of solar flares, which we can all worry about another time, Bob will instead speak about steganography, the practice of concealing a file,
message, image, or video within another file, message, image, or video. It is the art and science of hiding information by embedding messages within
other, seemingly harmless messages.

In other words, this presentation will be about espionage and national security!
